ThoRib® – Deal with thoracic trauma emergency
Mainly a result to car crash, the thoracic trauma may entail complication more or less severe depending on their category : penetrating trauma, severe blunt trauma (flail chest), mild blunt trauma (fractures).
Chest involvement is the first cause of immediate death and represent between 25 and 50% of secondary death.*.
To stabilize a flail chest, the osteosynthesis must be realized before the first five days after trauma**.
ThoRib® emergency kit is a workable and minimalist solution allowing to practice fastly a thoracic osteosynthesis.
ThoRib® system allows to stabilize thoracic injuries such as simple fractures or fracture site/flail chest. The system allows to remove fracture mobility and restore costal curvature and rigidity.
All ThoRib® staples are made out of titanium T40 to make them at the same time more solid and adaptable.
ThoRib® emergency kit allows to setting plenty of thoracic injuries such as :
1) SIMPLE OR MULTIPLE FRACTURES and
Costal staples allow thoracic fractures fixation and adapt to each patient thanks to the two sizes available.
The simple staple width measure 19 mm and the LARGE simple staple width measure 27.8 mm
2) FLAIL CHESTS AND PARTIAL COSTECTOMIES
The double staple are recommended after partial costectomy. The staple replace the missing part of the rib allowing to rebuilds it and and solidifies the chest wall.
As for a flail chest, where at least three ribs are broken in two separate places, the large range of double staples allows to adapt to each patient.
